Brian Murphy is a Managing Partner and the Chief Executive Officer of Veleta Capital with more than 20 years of executive experience in commercial real estate finance; including capital formation, building, scaling, and leading debt platforms and managing real estate investment funds. Brian is responsible for the vision, strategic direction, and growth of the company. He leads the execution of the investment strategy, portfolio management, and capital formation.

Prior to Veleta, Brian served as Senior Vice President & Managing Director at Civic Financial Services where he was recruited to design and build the multifamily division. Brian purpose built the platform, leading all strategy, product development, system and process implementation, and capital formation. In addition to production, he was responsible for managing underwriters and structuring credit, while overseeing production and brand positioning.

Prior to Civic, Brian served as Senior Vice President & Managing Director at Wilshire Finance Partners, a commercial real estate credit and opportunity fund. Brian was responsible for production across a several strategies and credit funds, in addition to portfolio management, capital formation, investor relations, and strategic initiatives. Prior to Wilshire, he was the Executive Vice President at SouthCal Financial Group where he originated, structured credit, and serviced more than $300+ million in distressed and performing portfolio debt.

Brian has originated, structured, and closed $2.5+ billion in real estate debt and equity investments. Brian graduated with B.A. from Chico State University and is a member of the National Multifamily Housing Council, the Mortgage Bankers Association, the Greater Los Angeles Association of Apartments, and the National Association of Apartments.
